Google Adwords’ New Integration with Maps
The folks over at Google have once again proven that they are not afraid to shake up how their PPC advertising platform can be used, assuming you know its ins and outs. Along with their recent beta for the Adwords redesign, they have also added a new feature that local marketers will want to take notice of. Is your company not being displayed within Google’s “Top Three” local results? Google now allows businesses to display their ads within Google Maps when users click to view more local results.
Along with the addition of this new feature, Google has also made some changes to their list of search partners. Previously when setting up a campaign, the options would include the Google Search Network as well as a checkbox that included Google search partners. This originally included Google Maps which is no longer the case. Now if you want to utilize Google Maps ads, this must be done through Adwords extensions.
You may be wondering how to go about using this new feature. It is actually very easy to set up if you already have an existing Adwords account and My Business page. Click on the Ad extensions tab and locate the “view” dropdown box on the upper left-hand side of your screen. Scroll down to the option that says “Location extensions.” You now have the option of choosing a location that will operate across an entire account, campaign or ad group. Select the option which works best with your PPC strategy and hit the red “+ Extension” button. You are then given the option of selecting your business from the available options attached to your Google account.
These new options make it even easier for local businesses to advertise near their geographical location. While setting up a PPC campaign is no simple task, it can be very beneficial for companies that have a low search ranking. Do you need help setting up a PPC campaign for your company?
